If you’ve started a weight training program, you may want to know if using whey protein to gain weight and build muscle actually works. There are a multitude of different weight gain supplements on the market, but only a few actually work. And one of those is good old fashioned whey protein. How To Gain Weight And Muscles

Whey protein helps you add pure, lean muscle to your body. Protein is one of the building blocks for building muscles. So it’s logical to supplement your workout nutrition with weight gain protein. And if you’re working out intensely to build those muscles, you’ll need a decent amount of protein to enhance your body building efforts.

Normally, you should be able to get all or most of the protein you need through the foods you eat. But when you’re trying to put on more muscle, you’ll probably find you’ll need to add some protein in order to gain weight, to your diet.

According to research, if you want to create large muscle mass you should be ingesting 1-2 grams of protein for each pound of body weight. So if you weighed 180 pounds, you would have to take in 180-360 grams of protein every day. This would equal a large amount of lean meat, fish or eggs and you may not be able to eat such a huge amount of protein each and every day. And anyway, forcing yourself to eat more is not good! You’ll probably feel sick afterwards, not healthy and strong.

This is where protein comes in. Whey is one of the protein components found in milk. It is an extremely easy protein to digest and your muscles are able to use it easily to repair  themselves and grow even bigger. How To Gain Weight And Muscles

The biological value scale (BV) measures how readily different proteins are absorbed by the human body. Eggs rate 100 on the BV scale, beef is 75 and whey comes in at 104. As if that wasn’t good enough, a form of protein that includes whey isolates which are a purer form of protein can measure as high as 170 on the scale.

Now you know why everybody is talking about protein being the best protein supplement out there. If you want to pack on more muscles, then it’s important that you use a good quality weight gain protein as part of your training program.

The isolates form of whey protein may be considered king, but so is the price. It costs approximately double the price of normal whey protein. This is because isolates are a purer form and is absorbed more efficiently by your body than regular whey protein.

However, some people don’t think the benefits outweigh the high cost and believe that regular weight gain protein is good enough to pack on muscle and weight.

So now you know why using whey protein to gain weight is so effective. It’s important to remember that when choosing your weight gain protein from the dazzling array in the store that it contains a decent amount of protein, doesn’t have much sugar in it and gives you the most bang for your buck.
